I bought a new cordless phone recently and it cost only slightly above US$40. The brand is Uniden which is a Japanese company that manufactures wireless communication products. The cordless phone model is AS1002 and it is available in 2 colors – Pearl white or Metallic Grey. This product is made in Vietnam and there is a one year warranty against defects. Despite its budget price, I think this cordless phone is value for money and it comes with the standard features of  more expensive cordless phone.

The Uniden AS1002 cordless phone is DECT digital and the voice clarity is good. When I pressed the number buttons, the back light automatically lights up ( orange color ) which is useful when you are using it in a dim or dark room. The LCD display screen is also orange in color and I felt that the numbers and words display on the LCD screen was rather small. I would prefer a bigger font display. This cordless phone also has a handset speaker phone. The voice coming from the speaker phone was nice and clear without much distortion. Speaker phones are very useful when I called up  bank or companies which normally put you on hold for a long time; and yet telling you that your calls are important to them.

Other features in this cordless phone includes Caller ID, Call waiting, 30 Number call memory, 70 number phone book, Redial button, Message/Mute button and a time display on the LCD screen. This cordless phone uses a rechargeable battery ( provided) and a charger. First charge before using is about 15 hours.  A good feature is that you can always increase/decrease the volume of the earpiece, speaker and ringing volume by just pressing the up/down buttons. The handset is slim and non slip; and the function buttons on the handset are clearly visible and neatly arranged.

I think this Uniden cordless phone is great considering the price that I have paid for it – it is worth the money.
