There are so many variety of jams in the market. Most common types of jams are Peanut Butter, Chocolate, Raspberry, Black current, Traditional Kaya and so on. Normally I will buy different types of jams each month; but I will always have the peanut butter and tradtional kaya jams in my fridge. These 2 types of jams are what I describe as ‘core’ or essential jams that I must have. I was pleasantly surprised to find Mulberry jam being sold in a health exhibition and I bought it straight away. It is hard to find Mulberry jam being sold in even large supermarkets or even bakery stores.
The sales staff who sold this Mulberry jam told me that the Mulberry jam is from Taiwan He has made a Mulberry drink from the jam and it taste very delicious. The taste is somewhat similar to Ribena drink. The selling price for one glass jar of Mulberry jam is RM29 which is quite close to US$9.50 for a net weight of 600gm. It is quite expensive for a fruit jam but it is worth the price. Once the glass jar is open, the jam needs to be stored in the refrigerator. I told the staff at the booth that they should look into selling this jam through supermarkets and bread chain stores. The price of this jam should also be lower by 20% so that more consumers can afford to buy this jam.
Mulberry is used in Chinese medicine as a tonic for the blood. The Mulberry fruit is good for the treatment of weakness, fatigue, anemia, and act as a tonic to nourish the blood. I understand from my friend that Mulberry fruit is good for the maintenance of healthy hairs and it contains of Vitamin C and minerals. After eating Mulberry jams, my appetite has improved tremendously; and I feel more energetic too. So this is one jam that I like to stock up in my fridge everyday but the problem is of course the difficulty in getting it, as it is not commonly available in major supermarkets.
I was at a exhibition in Malaysia and noticed a interesting booth selling health product. It was selling a health supplement drink which consists of extract from the Moringa tree. For those who are unsure what on earth is Moringa, it is sometimes known as the Miracle tree. The Moringa tree is commonly found in Asia and its entire parts of the tree can be used for different purposes. The leaves of the Moringa tree are highly nutritious and is high in vitamin c, potassium, iron and protein. The roots of the Moringa tree can be used to treat fevers, epilepsy, rheumatism, etc. In traditional medicine the Moringa tree is also used to treat erectile dysfunction in men and increase sexual virility in men and women.
I took the opportunity to understand more about this health supplement by asking some questions. The health supplement is sold like a beverage in a large bottle. The brand name is Lactovida and there is basically 2 types – the normal and the premium. There are many photos of current Malaysian Prime Minister and the former Prime Minister Badawi visiting the booth being displayed. Since this health beverage is so well marketed in Malaysia, I decided to try and asked for a sample drink. I was given a small cup of Moringa beverage and the smell of the beverage is like herbal. The color of this Moringa beverage is dark and after I put into my mouth and drank it, the instant response was that I dislike the taste of this herbal beverage. It has a strong herbal and sour taste. Immediately I took a bottle of mineral water from my backpack and try to flush down the awful taste from my mouth. The person at the booth told me to not to do it and to refrain from drinking any water for 10 minutes. He told me that the smell of this beverage will disappear from my mouth after 10 minutes; and thereafter my mouth will be fresh and without any bad breath. In fact, one of the useful remedy that this Moringa beverage is to remove bad breath from our mouth. So after 15 minutes later, I discovered that the awful taste in my mouth was really gone. I even asked my friend whether there was any bad breath on my mouth and the answer was No.
I believe Moringa is a good food supplement and it does help our body Bto be stronger and healthy. I will find out more about this wonder tree and see what other Moringa products that I can buy in the stores.
This is my first post on my new site – beginningless.com Frankly I haven’t really thought what main topics I would like to post on this site. My interests in life is about health, food, internet marketing, money, and travel. So I will be writing on these these topics most of the time. But I will also post anything that is interesting; and I take a slow and leisure view on how this site is going to grow.
I can see that lots of people are quite stressed out nowadays. When I sit and chat with my friends, inevitably the topic of money, rising cost of living, stress in workplace, family life and health are normally the topics of discussion. Money will always be a pressing issue with most of us. For those who has lost their jobs, the lack of money will create a major crisis in the family. During the last few years, I have seen so many of my ex-colleagues, friends and acquaintances being retrenched or conveniently removed from their jobs by their companies. What followed after losing their jobs is the lost of confidence in themselves; and at times the feeling of guilty and unworthiness. Luckily, quite of number of them who were jobless are able to secure an alternative employment after job hunting for a few months. Most of them could not get back their previous job status or match the level of their last drawn pay. So if a person is getting say 40% less in pay compared to his previous job, then he must budget and live within his budget and expectations. On a longer term, he could plan and see whether he could move up the corporate ladder again; or look for a job with better pay and benefits.
Support from our family members and friends are important when we are facing a crisis in life. So it is important to keep them close especially during good times, when we have a tendency to forget or neglect our family and friends. I remember clearly a ex-colleague ( called him B ) of mine who had lost his job and have 3 young kids and a wife. His desperate search for job for the next 2 months was fruitless. Eventually he got a job through a mutual ex-colleague whom had moved on to a new company. B was able to get an immediate offer of a job because he was nice and helpful to my ex-colleague when they were working together previously. So the moral lesson here is – We will be rewarded in the future when we are nice and respectful to people around us.
